Last weekend, Northville residents celebrated the 21st annual Victorian Festival. Celebrating the history of art, people and romance of the 1800’s. Each year, Northville residents look forward to participating in a weekend of Victorian fun.
The weekend of September 18th, started with a Victorian parade, as the store fronts and residents transformed the city into a Victorian village. Those who participated in the parade were dressed in full costume from the 1800’s, complete with boots, hats and suspenders for the men and gorgeous ruffled blouses, long skirts, ankle boots and luxurious hats for the ladies.
The parade was followed by two more days of fun including Victorian teas, fashion shows, musical entertainment, storytelling, rides and magicians for the kids. The town saloon was also open to entertain the adults.
The next Northville celebration is the 4th annual Northville Oktoberfest to be held on Friday, October 9th and Saturday, October 10th, 2009. The two days of fun will include a hay bale maze, inflatables, kid rides and a petting zoo for the kids. A classic car show, Polka and German bands, dance floor and beer tent for the adults.
The events will take place in the Community Park located at 5 mile and Beck (use 5 mile entrance). Visit http://www.northville.org/ for prices and event schedule.
