Detroit Fashion Week kicked off this past Sunday with a designer reception and preview party at Emagine theater in Royal Oak. Guests mingled and enjoyed fashions from several of the featured designers as well as Uneek Collection who is also being featured at the main runway event this Saturday, at the Detroit Public Library.
DFW was started six years ago by internationally known photographer, Brian Heath, and has started it’s seventh year with more supporters than ever before. Tonight at the Royal Oak Farmers Market located at 316 E 11 Mile Rd, Royal Oak, Detroit Fashion Week and the Young Survivors Coalition will host a charity auction and a PINK design showcase by participating Detroit Fashion Week designers. Survivors will wear pink on the runway. The event will be hosted by CW50’s Lori Pinson and will begin at 7:00 p.m.
Friday, September 23, 2011, DFW will host a student design showcase featuring eight College and University fashion programs and a party by design with the Michigan Aids Coalition. This event will take place at Willys Overland Lofts starting at 8:00 p.m at 441 W. Canfield in Detroit. Be sure to attend and support the designers and the fantastic fashion programs featured in the show.
Finally, Saturday, September 24, 2011, Detroit Fashion Week will end with it’s usual finale. A runway show of eight designers will be featured at the Detroit Public Library starting promptly at 8:00 p.m. The show will feature Tayion Collection, Uneek Collection, Odie King, Lyudviga Schneyders, Toni McClenden, Kate Lorenz, and Asylum Fashion House. After the designer showcase, guest are invited to enjoy the after party at KaCent 630 located at 630 Woodward Ave, downtown Detroit.
