Every new year we are reminded that we have to make a change of some sort in our lives. Typically we make health resolutions that only stick around for a couple of months. But, at least we have good intentions right? Instead of doing the same as every year, why not try a different angle such as, changing your style. Staying healthy is very important but there are other things we should do as well that make good new year resolutions such as; be more patient, volunteer more for charitable organizations and well…clean out that closet! Here’s my advice for 2013.
Utilize the Staple Pieces you Already Have – Donate the Rest
Spend a few hours going through your closet and donate everything you have ignored for the past year. Clearly if you haven’t worn it in a year, you’re not going to wear it this year either. Keep the staple pieces and add a few new ones to spice up your closet and your style for 2013. A new wardrobe doesn’t have to be purchased, just new updated pieces that can be incorporated into the collection you already have is what’s needed.
Are you known to always wear black? How about khaki or brown? Well this year, color is even more accepted than not, even on non-special occasion days (haha, you know what I mean). Change it up a bit and buy a pair of red skinny jeans, a bright cobalt blue cardigan or a fun sunshine yellow clutch. Bringing color into your wardrobe will show others you actually know what you’re doing and it might even liven your mood!
Clothing can be Fabulous and Functional
Many women today feel like they choose comfort over fashionable clothing. It doesn’t have to be that way. Choose clothing that is hip and current that fits well and is comfy too! There are clothes out there that do do both. Step out of those yoga pants and try! You’ll see!
Wear a Special Clothing Item Daily
Take that sequins top out of your closet and wear it on a Monday. Why are you saving it for the next baby shower? Admit it, many of the items in your closet are just hanging there waiting for you to be invited to a special event. Stop this madness today and start wearing one of your special items each day. This will help you feel good about yourself, will inprove your style and will help you get your money’s worth.
