For years, I have been wearing black lbds, all black or something black and I don’t feel bad about it at all. My husband always asks, “So are you wearing something black, tight, or tight and black?” Um yes. I guess. Sometimes it’s all the above but not mostly. I’ve heard all the “meant to be” hilarious comments from friends such as, “Are you going to a funeral?”, or “Why do you always wear black?”, and “Do you ever wear any other color?” Eyeroll. No, I’m not going to a funeral, (even though I have been to way too many). No, I don’t “always wear black (but I do wear it a lot). And, yes, I do wear other colors. I prefer solids and jeweled tones when I do, if you must know. But really, the LBD is my ride or die.
The Little Black Dress
Living in Michigan means I can’t wear what I want everyday. What’s that you ask? In my perfect world, Michigan would have a Southern state’s atmosphere and the temps would be warm year round, oh and it would be surrounded by oceans instead of small lakes too! AND, I would wear a cute sundress or day dress and high heels every single day. I try my hardest in this northern state but I tend to give up by December and give in to warmer outfits. Thank goodness for transitional pieces, boots, sweaters and coats! Either way, I do wear black alot and it never makes me feel down, negative or sad despite what the psychology of color might report.
For me, I love to wear black. I feel strong, confident, thin, in-shape, classy and ready for whatever the day brings. If I have to wait at the bus stop, then attend three meetings, have lunch with the girls, go back to meetings, pick up the kids in the carline and then head to a scheduled dinner or evening mass, I just might wear the same lbd all day long. Why? Because when you’re a mompreneur, you have one time to get ready and for first impressions, you get one chance to impress so I get ready once and carry that look all day to make sure I’m happy me no matter what the universe throws my way.
Black is my ride or die. Black is clean, sophisticated and my confidence color. So yes, you’ll be seeing me in black quite often. Do you have a color you absolutely love to wear? Please share in the comments below. I’d love to hear from you when it comes to looking and feeling confident in your favorite color.
