2018 Calls for Shimmer and Glam
Happy new year friends! If you’re anything like me, you’re probably eager to learn the new trends for 2018 in terms of hair, make up, fashion and travel. Basically, what’s everyone looking like, what’s everyone wearing and where’s everyone traveling to am I right? Let’s start with beauty. I have five 2018 trends I’m already doing and am very excited about. These are easy, familiar and fun.
I actually have an entire candy dish (that’s how I display my makeup on my bathroom counter) filled with liquid lipstick and lip glosses. But it looks like instead of updating my closet, I should update my lipstick collection. After years of lip gloss collecting, the good old fashioned bullet lipstick is back. It’s back to basics girls. Nothing new, but definitely exciting!
Black eyeliner has always been dramatic but it’s even more dramatic now. Trace it thick around both lids, wing it out thick or wing it out thin, either way do it big. We aren’t just tracing a thin line above the upper lash line in 2018.
Glitter, glitter glitter! It’s all good, its allowed and its glamorous! I LOVE using NYX professional makeup glitter brilliants. I mix this with my lipgloss, press it over my eyelids and place a little extra in the inner corners of my eyes. If my outfit and the night is planned just right, I even dust a neutral color of sparkly glitter (not blue or red of course) over my collar bones for a little extra sexiness. But, loose glitter on eyelids and the inner corner of the eyes aren’t the only acceptable trend right now. Rhinestones, gems, and sequins are current 2018 trends you can start practicing. Gently glue them to your eyelids or your thick lashes for a little come hither sparkle. No reason to buy a specific glue, your eyelash glue will do.
Metallic shades bold and soft are hot in 2018. Wear metallic shadow on lids, a soft shimmer highlight on brow bones, cheek bones and collar bones and add extra shimmer on lips with a shimmer lipstick. Remember when JLo used to shimmer all over? Yep, those days are back you just don’t have to be JLo to shine.
Retro clumpy, extra black lashes are my favorite, and they finally made a comeback. How do you achieve this look? Extra layers of mascara and a few well-placed lashes, strips or extensions. You decide, just remember what I always say, “Go Glam or Go Home!”
