The North American International Auto Show is the Last Winter Show

Press week for the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) is finally here. This year, I’m working for A Girl’s Guide to Cars to bring my readers and theirs, info and exciting reveals from NAIAS 2019. Typically, you’re used to reading about the auto show presence of Mercedes Benz, Audi and BMW here on Glamorous Moms, but not this year. These three brands pulled out of the show along with Porsche, so day one of press week was a little quiet for me.

The auto show did kick off with a beautiful display of ultra-luxury vehicles at a local charity event called ‘The Gallery’ (this year marks the 13th year of ‘The Gallery’), at MGM Grand Detroit last weekend. These beautiful cars and brands consisted of Aston Martin, Lamborghini, Porsche, Bentley, and Ferrari. More brands we, unfortunately, won’t see on the Detroit Auto Show turntables.

I felt their absence when I walked through the showroom but let me assure you, NAIAS isn’t a full disappointment. I was still able to view beautiful cars from terrific brands on day one of press week. I’m confident you’re going to love my upcoming reviews on the prettiest and most luxurious brands on the floor at the Detroit Auto Show. Instead of focusing on what’s not at the show, I’m going to focus on what is. Away from my traditional German and ultra high-end favorites, here are the cars I’m impressed with at NAIAS 2019:

During this week and next, I will continue to post car reviews and more photos as well as exclusive glam shots from the Charity Preview.

The NAIAS public show is now open and runs through Sunday, January 27. The show is open from 9a-10p daily except for the last day when it closes at 7p. The last admission is 1 hour before closing time. Tickets are $14/adults and $7 for children (ages 7-12) and seniors (ages 65+). Children 6 and under are free with a parent or guardian. Tickets are available at the door or online. Online tickets are now delivered as eTickets instead of needing to pick them up at Will Call as in past years.

Parking is limited at Cobo Center. The good idea is to park elsewhere in the city. Then, take the People Mover to Cobo Center or the Q Line to Campus Martius Park. It is a four block walk from Campus Martius to Cobo. There is also parking at the Ren Cen where the People Mover can also be taken.

What’s in store for NAIAS 2020?

The year 2020 will mark changes for NAIAS. The North American International Auto Show will be held in June instead of January for 2020 and will be held both indoors and outdoors surrounding Cobo Center including the Detroit RiverWalk, Hart Plaza, Campus Martius, and more. Car fans will be able to enjoy test drives, automated driving demos, and more interaction with their favorite vehicles than ever before.
