5 Fashion Brands That Give Back

Online shopping has been quite the thing these days since the COVID-19 outbreak. For a while, we only focused on what we needed, and then on the real boring days, we focused on what we wanted. I’m wondering though if there are enough of us thinking about what damage our shopping habits are having on the planet? We’ve all become accustomed to fast fashion. I’m guilty of it too! But lately, I’ve really been focusing on those small businesses that need our money so much more.

When we buy a $20 t-shirt, it’s important to stop and think about how our purchase affects the person who made it. How much were they paid? What were their working conditions? It’s a subject we must fully recognize and understand.

These brands below are brands that value helping others and sustainability. Some are sourcing sustainable materials and others are donating a portion of each purchase to charity. The next time you shop online, give them a try!

5 Fashion Brands That Give Back

Ivory Ella

Ivory Ella is a fashion brand that supports elephants! The brand’s efforts aid the research, prevention, and awareness of the ivory trade. Ivory Ella has over 65 employees working to support the mission of Save the Elephants and donates 10% of all profits to organizations like Save the Elephants in order to do their part.

H&M Conscious Collection

The H&M conscious collections consist of garments used from organic materials. It’s no doubt sustainability is important here. Prices are still affordable like the other H&M designs but without sacrificing the planet. They’ve even been known for using natural dye made from coffee grounds collected from H&M’s own production offices for their garments.

Sézane

The Parisian brand Sézane designs gorgeous apparel and footwear for women. The brand takes pride in its numerous partnerships across the world. The team advocates for safe working conditions for artisans, they use mostly all-natural materials with each design, and Sézane gives back to various philanthropic causes.

Nordgreen

Nordgreen is a Danish watch company founded in 2017. Nordgreen donates a portion of each purchase to organizations like Water For Good and Cool Earth. Both causes help to provide clean water. Their collections provide designs for both men and women and come in a variety of designs that include interchangeable straps and stainless steel cases. They’ve been featured in Forbes, Vogue, GQ, and the Huffington Post and many more respected publications.

Soko

Soko’s timeless designs are inspired by the unique tribal aesthetic, and every purchase supports the empowerment of artisan entrepreneurs in Kenya. One of my favorite things about Soko is they play a major role in providing jobs to female workers. Some have said their supply chain increases income almost five times over for marginalized artisans in the developing world. They specialize in earrings, rings, bracelets, and necklaces. Each purchase we make directly impacts their local communities while supports the global creative economy.
